Author’s: Note: This writing piece in for the
Patriot’s Pen Contest. Each student is
required to write an essay on a certain topic.
The topic for this year is “What would you say to the Founding Fathers
Today”. I do not know if I am going to
enter the contest or not, but I hope to give my best effort in writing on this
writing piece. I am going to try to work
on my transitions into each paragraph and using the correct tence.
Everything
has a creator. Basketball was created by Dr. James Naismith. Facebook was
created by Mark Zuckerberg and the United States of America was founded
by the seven founding fathers who were John Jay, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and George Washington. All
of these men had one goal in mind, and that was to have their creation be
successful. If there is one word that
the founding fathers should be told, that would be success.
With a style of government, you either have a
successful one or an unsuccessful one. The founding fathers were trying to
create a simple but effective government.
These seven gentleman wanted their government to be citizen run. They also wanted citizens to have the choice
on who they want to be in charge. Also they believed that it should not differ
what your skin color or gender is; anyone can be a part of the government. Plus, these men created three documents that
list our rights and what the laws are for being an American. The documents were
The Declaration of Independence, The
Constitution and The Bill of
Rights. Even though people these
days think we have an awful government, they supply us with many things that we
need in order to live the American dream such as access to transportation, public healthcare
and an education. Many other countries don't have what we have and we are lucky to have what we have.
Besides government, another great success
that the founding fathers had was their determination. Not just in their hearts, but in the hearts
of the American people. I believe this
is true because before we were even a nation, we were involved in a war called
The Revolutionary War. We were not
favored to win this war against the mighty British, but we still pulled it
out. We have great determination in the
battle field and in our own land. The American
people have great determination because even though these past ten years have
been hard on everyone, people still get up early in the morning, going to work and
having success at what they do. These
people do this because they want to keep this country moving, even during a bad
time.
Both government and determination are very important; but our freedom is most important. These seven men helped secure our
freedom. Each person has their own
definition of freedom, but the founding fathers thought that we should not be
ruled by another country and that the government can’t control us. With laws,
they gave us the abilities to have Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of the Press and much more. If
we did not have these freedoms than we would not know what to do, and we would think that the government actually controlled us. These laws have been put in place so that we
have guidelines that we need to follow and live by so the each person can live
the American dream. Freedom is the most
important thing in the world because it lets us do what want with our
lives. We should be very fortunate to
have freedom, because there are some countries that do not have it.
Overall, these seven men helped create our
country and what it is about. Without
these seven men our country would be a lot different. We could have a completely different style of
government and we might not be able to worship what we believe. It has taken a while for us to get to the
point that we are at now, but it has been worth it. So much time has been spend into making what we are now. No country is perfect, certainly not the
United States America, but we are working towards that stage because that
is what the founding fathers wanted. There are many things that we could tell
the founding fathers, but I would tell them is; success.
